Rainbow Cake

Every time I bake this cake I get the same question, "how did you do that?!" It's so Simple and SO FUN. I love this cake because even the people that say they don't eat sweets just have to  have a little slice of this colorful cake! I think its worth making a little more of a mess than usual to make this rainbow cake. Cupcakes would be even more fun!

All you need is two boxes of cake mix and food coloring. I always buy classic white just so the color is more vibrant. I'm sure yellow cake would be fine also. The box will give you a recipe for with or without yolks. Just do it with the yolks. It wont alter the color at all, no need to waste anything.

Make the cake according to the box. I separated batter into five paper bowls. Looking at the cake I think the blue and green should be more than the rest. If you think it looks fine then just do it in even batches.

Color away! As you can see by the pictures the batter will end up a lot darker after its baked. So no need to overload with food coloring. For the red, blue, yellow, and green you need about 7-10 drops. The orange is a little harder because you have to mix red and yellow, but it usually works out fine in the end.

Now this bakers joy stuff is just heaven in a can. It's flour and oil that you spray your baking pans with. NOTHING STICKS. I bought it because my oven sucks recently (hence the burnt edges on my cupcake) and I thought this would help. Well nothing sticks but it still burns :( I wish the oven fairies would fix the problem!

TADA!!!!! Funky rainbow cake! Its a blank flavor canvas so mix it up. Some lemon zest maybe? Rasberry flavoring? Or just frost it and enjoy :)
